North Shore Animal League Teacher of the Month
Lisa Klink, Special Education Science Teacher at Schuyler-Colfax Middle School, was honored as Teacher of the Month by the North Shore Animal League.  Mrs. Klink was recognized for her work with the curriculum webpage "North Shore Animal Shelter's Muttigrees".  Mrs. Klink and her students developed instructional materials called "Quattro's Paws for Hope" based on the real life story of Quattro, a cat from Paterson, NJ that was severely beaten and injured by a group of grade school children.  The shelter visited Schulyler-Colfax on September 22 to present the award.  Mrs. Klink and her students were  also treated to an assembly complete with a visit from two shelter dogs, Turtle and Simba.

Schuyler-Colfax Middle School is proud to announce that we will be holding our Annual Veterans Day Breakfast and Ceremony on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. in the Auditorium.

The Veterans Day Breakfast is our opportunity to honor the family members and friends who have served or are serving our country. All students related to any veteran(s) are invited to attend the breakfast and ceremony. If there is a veteran or member of the military in your family who can join us, please complete the attached form no later than October 28th.

In addition to our welcome breakfast and ceremony, we are inviting our veterans to meet in small, “town hall meeting” groups with our students to participate in a more intimate gathering to share stories about their experiences, display artifacts, and answer questions from our students.
